It’s no secret that things have been rough for the Brown family, stars of the TLC show Sister Wives. Between divorces and drama, a new report highlights more rifts in the family, this time between patriarch Kody Brown and his child, Leon.
Leon is the only child Kody has with his first wife, Meri.
Last summer, Leon, 28, shared an Instagram post with a life update.
“Someone recently told me that I didn’t have to have all of my s— figured out in order for me to share myself with the world,” Leon shared on Instagram in June 2022.
“So here’s me, definitely not having almost any of my s— figured out, to let you know that I am trans. My name is Leon or Leo (i love both).”

According to Without a Crystal Ball, Kody and his current wife, Robyn, reportedly don’t support Leon.
“Kody and Leo Brown are not following each other anymore on social media,” the Instagram post shared. “Kody Brown is following numerous accounts that are transphobic and regularly post hate filled rhetoric about trans people.”
The post continued, “Kody & Robyn allegedly do not support Leon’s transition and are allegedly not accepting at all of the LGBTQ despite pretending they are on tv according to a source.”
The Instagram account noted that Kody is still following his exes Meri, Christine, and Janelle on social media, which is why not following Leon really stands out.
Now, a source that spoke with the U.S. Sun confirmed their estranged relationship.
“He does not support Leon’s transition at all,” a family source told the U.S. Sun.
“He’s actually disgusted by it, as terrible as that is. Kody is telling close friends, ‘This is a new person. I don’t know who this person is,’” the new outlet reported, and Kody is complaining that Leon isn’t the kid he raised.
The source told the news outlet that Kody’s non-acceptance has made Meri upset. “They don’t have a relationship anymore, and because of it, it has affected his relationship with Meri, 100 percent,” the source said.
Meri, however, is standing by Leon.
“Meri, Leon’s mother and Kody’s ex-wife, is ‘standing by’ their side,” the news outlet reported.
“Leon is her only child, and she wasn’t going to disown them. She will pick Leon over Kody every day,” the source said.
Without a Crystal Ball confirmed this too, writing, “As a result of the hate spewed by Kodster & Robyn to Leon, Meri has allegedly cut them off. Meri is ride or die for her kid and won’t tolerate anyone bullying her child.”
The estrangement isn’t necessarily new news. One of Leon’s siblings hinted at an estrangement earlier this year.
In February of this year, Gwendlyn Brown shared that her sibling is not close with the family, explaining, “Leon has given themselves space for their emotional health.
“Leon has been, since childhood, kind of the odd one out in the family because they had no siblings from their mom to really get along with,” she said. “They just probably felt like the odd one out.”
Gwendlyn continued, sharing that in their family, where members “predominately” practice the Mormon faith, which “hasn’t really traditionally been kind to queer people, especially with a family that’s quite a bit conservative and partially against transsexuality in general …”
And for Leon, that means they are ‘separating themselves from the situation and been sticking to people that are more safe for them.’
Adding, “they have chosen to go to people who they can trust, and it’s just they found a safer community for themselves.”
Leon secretly married their partner, Audrey Kriss, last summer.
