EastEnders Teddy Mitchell’s ex-wife Nicola is set to make her debut soon – but fans have been left saying the same thing
EastEnders has confirmed the upcoming arrival of Teddy Mitchell’s ex-wife Nicola.
Teddy (Roland Manookian) made his bombshell debut on the soap earlier this year, when he rocked up as the long-lost brother of Billy (Perry Fenwick). Teddy, and his sons Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) and Harry (Elijah Holloway) have since settled into Walford and the Mitchell clan.
But it’s been clear the family have been hiding something big. And this week, it was revealed that Teddy is set to get a blast from the past, as his ex-wife is set to join the show this autumn.
Teddy’s ex-wife Nicola, played by Laura Doddington, will turn up in scenes that will air later this year. Her uninvited arrival ruffled a few feathers, and she wastes no time in introducing herself to the rest of the Mitchells.
Teddy isn’t impressed that Nicola is in his new neighbourhood- but Nicola isn’t fazed, as she is keen on making amends with her sons. Actress Laura Doddington has already started filming for the soap.
In a statement, she said of her exciting new role: “I still can’t believe I’ve joined EastEnders – I keep pinching myself! I grew up watching the show, so the first time I filmed in The Vic, I was like a kid at Christmas to be in such an iconic place with such a brilliant cast and crew.”
She added: “Nicola is a complex woman who comes in like the Tasmanian Devil! She’s strong and completely unapologetic about who she is.
“I’ve been so lucky to have my Mitchell boys, Roland, Elijah and Lewis, as they’ve taken me under their wing, and we feel like a family already. I’m loving every second so far.”
The news of Nicola’s arrival has got plenty of EastEnders fans excited. However, other fans couldn’t help but notice how much the actress looks like a younger Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).
Writing on an EastEnders Facebook fan page, one person said: “Looks like a young Sharon.” A second person penned: “I think she looks like Sharon.” A third chimed in and wrote: “I thought the same. Glad it’s not just me!”
Echoing their thoughts, another viewer said: “Genuinely thought this was a throwback picture of Sharon!” A fifth penned: “First glance I thought she was young Sharon!”
Actress Laura Doddington is no stranger to starring in a soap. She has appeared in the likes of Doctors, Holby City, Casualty, The Bill and The Midwich Cuckoos over the years.
