Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) struggles to resist temptation in EastEnders next week as Callum Highway (Tony Clay) offers him a shoulder to cry on in the wake of an upsetting situation.
The lawyer, as viewers know, has been worried sick about mum Linda (Kellie Bright), who is being blackmailed by an associate of Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo).
Dean, as fans know, was framed by Linda and the other five matriarchs involved in covering up Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder, pinning the death of the mechanic on the rapist.
Johnny, who staged his long-awaited comeback to the Square earlier this year, knows all about his mum’s role in the cover-up and has aided The Six with his legal expertise to ensure that no errors were made.
Callum, a longtime friend of the Carter clan, raised eyebrows when he started to quiz Linda over Dean’s alleged involvement in Keanu’s murder, with Johnny taking it upon himself to ensure that the detective didn’t uncover the truth.
In doing so, however, the pair have struck up quite a close bond, with Johnny becoming something of a confidante for Callum in the wake of husband Ben Mitchell’s (Max Bowden) imprisonment.
Next week, Linda is rushed to hospital after a life-threatening situation and Johnny is absolutely devastated. Callum is right by his side and offers him support, extending a shoulder to cry on.
Johnny, overcome with emotion, responds by leaning in for a kiss.
The question is: how will Callum react?
The detective was already concerned that certain residents were thinking that he and Johnny were an item after Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) suggested he was moving on from Ben, so it’s likely that Johnny’s attempt to kiss him will take him by surprise.
But is there a possibility of romance on the cards?
With it unlikely that Ben will return to Walford any time soon, will Callum decide to take a chance on romance and kiss Johnny back? Or is it simply too soon for him to even consider such a thing?
