EastEnders star Vicki Michelle was rushed to hospital after a ‘painful’ accident.

The actress, who played Jo Cotton on the BBC soap, shared the health updated on her Instagram, detailing the horror hospital dash. She’s suffered a broken shoulder after the “nasty fall” as she told fans about her unfortunate injuries.

“So sorry everyone No Vix Mix Sunday this week. I’ve had a nasty fall and broken my shoulder,” she wrote alongside a snap of her wearing a hospital sling. “Ouch. Bloody painful. Me at hospital. Hopefully be with you next week. Missing you already.”

It’s a fresh blow for Vicki who only last year announced the sad passing of her younger sister Suzie. The 73-year-old star, who rose to fame as Yvette Carte-Blanche in BBC sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo!, shared a touching photograph with Suzie and her daughter.

In tribute, Vicki wrote to her 17,200 followers: “Said Goodbye to my beautiful baby sister Suzie this week. Beautiful inside and out. Hundreds of people came to say their farewell. She was so loved. Wonderful memory with Suzie and her daughter Susie. RIP Beautiful sister. Be Happy in your new home. Love [red heart] You. #heartbroken.”

The heartfelt post quickly garnered nearly 500 likes and was met with an outpouring of support from fans, who left numerous messages of sympathy. One follower commented: “Many condolences on your loss Vicki, it’s a lovely picture and I’m sure you’ll remember all the good times together.” Another added: “Such a beautiful girl inside and out.

“My heart goes out to Richard and all of her family. RIP.” A fourth follower added: “So sad. I didn’t know. I’m so sorry. I found out via Ann this morning. One of the nicest people I’ve met. God, we had some laughs. All love to all you Michelles.”

Vicki’s devastating news came just hours after it was revealed that her character Jo Cotton’s storyline on EastEnders was left open-ended. The last time viewers saw Jo, she was leaving Albert Square with a whopping £50,000 of Kathy Beale’s money, intending to finally divorce her bigamist husband, Rocky.

Speaking to Metro, she said of her role: “I think they’ve left it open, that was the thing and hopefully, talk soon! That would be great.” Vicki also shared how much she enjoyed the audience’s response to her character, telling the publication: “I loved it. People were ringing me up saying ‘Oh my God, we love this character!’.

“And the funny thing is that when you’re doing EastEnders, people defend you. I’m having a go at Rocky and then a fan will say ‘Oh, she was really mean to Rocky’, and then you’ll get another fan going ‘Well, what do you expect? He walked out on her 25 years ago! She didn’t know whether he was dead or alive.”
