‘Yellowstone’ star Cole Hauser to bring Montana bourbon brand to Texas fans

On the heels of opening Free Rein Coffee in San Angelo, the actor is now bringing Lazy K Bar Whiskey to the Lone Star State.

Less than a year after debuting Free Rein Coffee in San Angelo, Yellowstone star Cole Hauser is again bringing a well-loved beverage to Texas markets. Hauser, along with his partners at Lazy K Ranch, are ushering Lazy K Bar Whiskey into the Lone Star State.

Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler in the Paramount Network’s Western series, announced earlier this week that the bourbon is now available for sale in Texas. Previously, Lazy K Bar Whiskey was only available for retail sale in Hauser’s native Montana.

Yellowstone’s’ Cole Hauser adds whiskey brand to resume amid Taylor Sheridan coffee feud

For now, bourbon (and Yellowstone) fans can only find Lazy K Bar Whiskey at select shops in both states. Retailers like Spec’s Wine, Spirits & Foods, Nomad’s and Cowboy Liquors will stock the actor-backed spirit for around $100 a bottle. As for fans outside of both states, you’re all out of luck—at least, for now. The company plans to expand its presence at Texas retailers, but no details about venturing into other states have been released yet.

The Lazy K Bar bourbon brand is a partnership between Hauser, Lazy K Ranch owner David Leuschen and alcohol industry vet, Britt West, according to a press release. Boasting an eight-year long aging process, Lazy K Bar’s bourbon is inspired by Montana’s decade-spanning cowboy culture.

Hauser also praised Texas fans in the release, who welcomed his coffee brand to the state last fall.

Yellowstone’ Star Cole Hauser Just Launched a New Bourbon Brand

“I’ve had a tremendous amount of support and requests from the fine folks of Texas to bring our bourbon into the Lone Star State. And there’s a history of working ranches in Texas that match the lifestyle that pairs well with our bourbon.”

Based on his history, it looks like Hauser is shaping up to make Texas one of his adopted homes. In October 2023, the Hollywood star launched his coffee brand, Free Rein Coffee in Texas. Headquartered in San Angelo, the brand has since become a hit among Texans, but has also fallen into controversies as well.

In December 2023, Free Rein was sued by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, for “trademark infringement, unfair competition and false advertising.” Sheridan owns Bosque Ranch, another Texas-based coffee company with country aesthetics, similar to Free Rein.
