Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 premiere date officially confirmed & Kevin Costner’s mind made up about rejoining the TV show.
Taylor Sheridan ’s notorious magnum opus, Yellowstone has been on hold for way longer than expected. Between Kevin Costner ’s leave, the Hollywood strike, and the need to rewrite the entire finale, the iconic neo-Western has been postponed again and again with no official finale release date… Until now. Sheridan is finally ready.
And Costner finally revealed whether he’s coming back to Yellowstone or not, too.
Yellowstone Finale Premiers a Year Later
For the longest time, the Yellowstone team has been keeping all the information about their show’s last installment’s release date. But now, we have semi-exact information, courtesy of THR: the wait for Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 is coming to a close, with the grand finale being released a year later than initially intended.
With its original date being November 2023, Yellowstone Season 5 has suffered some massive delays: Part 1 only premiered in May 2024, and the finale is now scheduled for November 2024. As frustrating as the long wait might have been, the ending of the neo-Western epic is closer than ever — this time, for real.
Kevin Costner Debunks Return Rumors
Over the past months, there have been several scoops and speculations about the former lead star’s potential return to Yellowstone. Costner himself, too, supported those claims to an extent, sharing that he’d be more than happy to reprise his role. But with the grand finale scheduled, the actor finally spilled the beans, leaving no room for further rumors.“I want to reach out and let you know that <…> I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5B or into the future. It was something that really changed me. I loved it. And I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning and I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop and I’ll see you at the movies,” the actor shared in his recent Instagram update.</…>
Kevin Costner’s exit had to do with scheduling issues between Yellowstone and his personal project, the Horison movie series. The lead actor’s falling out with Taylor Sheridan was the beginning of the long halt in the TV show’s production, but now everything is sorted: both Sheridan and Costner are releasing their Westerns soon.
